Introduction to ADSO (Advanced ADSO)  in SAP BW4HANA

This lesson outlines DataStore-Objects in SAP BW/4HAN. The following types are available now:
1. Advanced DataStore-Objects (ADSO) are new with SAP BW 7.40 SP9. They rely on SAP HANA and are the premium alternative for modeling persistent data models in an EDW based on SAP BW.
2. DataStore-Objects (DSO) have been available since SAP BW 2.0 in the “Standard” ,“Writeoptimized” and “Direct-update” subtypes. To distinguish them from the new ADSO concept, these are referred to as DSO (classic).

The advanced DSO consists of three core tables that are generated in the background when the advanced DSO is created and activated. The system uses the tables depending on the selected modeling options. Regardless of the use case, these three tables are always generated to later support a quick and flexible change of the data model.

The tables are as follows:

1. Inbound table : Technical name /BIC/ A<ADSO technical name>1 Equals activation queue table for standard DSO (classic) or uncompressed fact table of non-HANA-optimized InfoCube. Structure: Request ID (REQUSN), Data Package (DATAPAKID), Record number (RECORD), Record mode (RECORDMODE), Key Field 1, Key Field n, Field 1, Field n...

2. Table of active data : /BIC/ A<ADSO technical name>2 Equals active table of DSO (classic) or compressed fact table of non-HANA-optimized InfoCube. Structure: Key Field 1, Key Field n, Record mode (RECORDMODE), Field 1, Field n...

3. Change log : /BIC/ A<ADSO technical name>3 Same as for standard DSO (classic). Structure: Request ID (REQUSN), Data Package (DATAPAKID), Record number (RECORD), Record mode (RECORDMODE), Key Field 1, Key Field n, Field 1, Field n...
